Allt a Mhullin Mountain Water 50ml

The softest water in Scotland.

With its snow-covered peaks, Ben Nevis is one of the most Iconic landmarks in Scotland, often translated from Scottish Gaelic as the “Mountain of Heaven”.

At 4,411 ft, it is the highest mountain in The British Isles standing proudly over the town of Fort William in the Scottish Highlands.

Allt a Mhullin ( al – ta – voo – lin ) mountain water begins its journey on the highest peaks of Ben Nevis.

It flows down the northern slopes through peat soil and granite rock emerging as a pure, clear, refreshing water and one of the softest in Scotland.

Such is the quality and character of this natural mountain water that Ben Nevis Distillery uses it in the making of their iconic spirits.

The water that flows down Ben Nevis begins its journey on the highest peaks, filtering down the northern slopes through peat soil and granite rock until it becomes the Allt a Mhullin stream. It continues its journey down Scotland’s highest and most famous mountain, becoming the pure clear water which is Allt a Mhullin Mountain Water, one of the softest waters in Scotland.

Once used to power a water mill, Allt a Mhullin
(pronounced alt
-a-voo-lin) translates from Scottish Gaelic as “the Stream of the Mill” and is now used to make the whisky at the Ben Nevis Distillery, One of Scotland’s oldest licensed distilleries, nestled at the foot of Ben Nevis.

Their reason? Adding water removes the alcohol prickle and opens up the aromas and flavors for greater appreciation. Recent scientific studies have demonstrated that the addition of water enhances the experience.

The chemistry of the water makes a difference and that the best water to add is the water that made the whisky,

'Surely every dram deserves the
best possible Scottish Spring water'

And so Uisge Source was born (pronounced ‘oosh-guh’ Scottish Gaelic for water).

And while you listen to the debates about how to drink whisky, perhaps remember what
legendary Scottish Entertainer, Chic Murray suggested:
“There are only two rules for drinking whisky:
Rule number 1 – never take whisky without water,
Rule number 2 – never take water without whisky.
